Amy Waschull, MD, is with Springfield Clinic’s Family Medicine Department seeing patients at Springfield Clinic Macomb. “From a young age, I knew I wanted to be in a helping profession,” says Dr. Waschull. “But it wasn’t until high school that a teacher of mine suggested I consider going into medicine.” Dr. Waschull earned her medical degree from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago and completed her residency at the University of Wisconsin Medical School in Madison. She earned her Master of Public Health degree from Tulane University in New Orleans. She has served the Macomb community since 2007. “My favorite part of my job is getting to know my patients and their families,” says Dr. Waschull. “By taking the time to get to know my patients in the context of their family and their community, you learn a lot of important things that impact their health.” Dr. Waschull’s scope of practice includes newborn to geriatric care. She looks forward to working together with her patients for the long haul, rejoicing in their successes and taking care of them during their tough times. “Being from a small town, Macomb feels like home,” says Dr. Waschull. “I enjoy developing ongoing relationships with my patients not only in the office but as a part of the larger Macomb community.” In her free time, she enjoys traveling with her husband and son with a goal to go camp in all of the national parks.
