Aravind Viswanathan, M.D., is a fellowship-trained Urologic Oncologist and the Director of the Robotics Program at MUSC Health Lancaster Medical Center.
Dr. Viswanathan joined MUSC Lancaster in July 2022 after completing his fellowship in Urologic Oncology at the MUSC Charleston. Prior to his fellowship, Dr. Viswanathan completed his Urology residency at the University of Wisconsin and graduated from the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth.
Dr. Viswanathan's specialties include medical and surgical management of malignancies affecting organs of the genitourinary systems, such as prostate, kidney, bladder, and testis. He performs robotic/minimally invasive and open surgeries, including prostatectomy, nephrectomy, cystectomy, and urinary diversions.
While urologic oncology is his primary focus, Dr. Viswanathan also offers an array of treatments for other benign urologic issues, including benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), urinary incontinence, erectile dysfunction, male infertility, urethral stricture disease, and stone disease. He is also one of the few providers in the state of South Carolina who performs Holmium Laser Enucleation of Prostate (HoLEP) for BPH, which has several advantages and is performed only in limited centers throughout the nation currently.
