Jameela S. Goudarzi, DNP, NP-C, is a family nurse practitioner specializing in primary care and family medicine at MUSC Health Primary Care – Martello in James Island. She graduated from the Medical University of South Carolina with both a Master of Science in Nursing and a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree. She earned a bachelor’s degree in Nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina, and a bachelor’s degree in Biology from the College of Charleston. Jameela began her career in health care as a patient care technician in an ICU step-down unit before becoming a registered nurse. As an RN, she spent three years working in the surgical-trauma ICU. After receiving her MSN and DNP degrees, she transitioned to primary care. In this setting, she worked for nearly two years in the medically underserved community of Orangeburg, SC and has now been practicing with MUSC Health for over two years. Her extensive clinical training allows her to connect with and treat patients for a wide range of conditions.Her clinical interests include preventive health care, wellness, women’s health, LGBTQ health, mental health, nutrition, hypertension, diabetes, weight management, chronic disease management, and more. Jameela believes in a holistic and collaborative approach to health care with the end goal of prevention and wellness. She sees patients as experts in their own bodies and experiences and, for this reason, partners with patients to empower them as active participants in their health. She enjoys seeing new patients and knowing that she may be part of their care for years to come.Jameela takes pride in serving as the hub for patients’ health care needs by considering each patient’s general wellness, culture, personal, family, and social life, and by coordinating care with MUSC Health specialists as needed. She enjoys learning every day from the variety of health care needs seen in the primary care setting.Jameela has volunteered as both a registered nurse and a yoga instructor in the Charleston community for many years. She is also a member of a local cooperative where she facilitates workshops and dialogues that promote social justice education.
