My passion is providing comprehensive surgical care for disorders affecting the way patients interact with the world via their hearing, speech, and appearance. Otolaryngology combines all of what I find most intriguing about medicine—surgical intervention and disease management in a highly complex region of the human body. I believe the practice of medicine and surgery is a joint effort between physician and patient. There is rarely ever just one option for treatment, and it is my job to communicate recommendations not only based on current evidence, but also incorporating my patients’ preferences and values. Alleviating nasal obstruction and local facial reconstruction after skin cancer removal are particularly fascinating areas of practice that I find very fulfilling. Additionally, the diagnosis and management of disorders of the larynx, specifically hoarseness, chronic cough and laryngeal hypersensitivity, are very interesting. My husband and I met at Elon University over a decade ago and enjoy being outdoors, especially when hiking and kayaking. We also enjoy live music and any type of festival featuring food. We love to share these experiences with our daughter.
