Richard M. Newman, MD


Dr. Newman has over 20 years of experience focusing on Minimally Invasive General Surgery Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic surgery and surgery of the Thyroid Parathyroid and Adrenal glands. Over the course of his career he has taught residents and fellows started and ran a general surgery group practice and held administrative roles in surgical supply chain and medical group management. Prior to joining Northwell/NWH Dr. Newman was director of General Surgical Programs at St Francis Hospital and Medical Center a 600 bed teaching hospital in Hartford CT. Dr. Newman received his medical degree from Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York. He completed his Internship and Residency at New York University/Bellevue Hospital Center. After completing a Fellowship in Laparoscopic and Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery at Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle he returned to teach at Bellevue Hospital for four years before moving to Connecticut in 2001. He is board certified by the American Board of Surgery and a fellow of the American College of Surgeons Dr. Newman recently relocated to Pleasantville. In his free time he likes cooking and traveling with his family fly fishing hiking camping and skiing.
