Sharmeen Mahmood, D.O., is a medical oncologist and hematologist at Hoag Family Cancer Institute. At Hoag, Dr. Mahmood treats general hematology and oncology, with a focus on breast oncology.
Dr. Mahmood’s treatment philosophy focuses on being adaptable, as a patient’s treatment goals and treatment itself are continually changing. She hopes to empower patients to play an active role in their treatment decisions.
Active in clinical research, Dr. Mahmood continues to study groundbreaking treatment options for breast cancer, as well as other cancer types including colorectal cancer, lymphoid malignancies and acute myeloid leukemia. She has contributed to multiple clinical publications and published abstracts and is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, the American Society of Hematology and the American Association of Cancer Research.
In her spare time, Dr. Mahmood enjoys hiking with her dog, DIY projects, reading and traveling, having visited more than 20 countries.
