First Day Hikes is a national-led effort that encourages individuals and families to experience, with a seasoned guide, the beautiful natural and cultural resources found in the outdoors and in doing so may inspire them to take advantage of these treasures throughout the year and an individual’s lifetime. Nature has been proven to boost our moods and make us feel healthy and exploring the outdoors is the perfect way to start the new year.

Location: Meet in the parking lot off of Anderson Pkwy, on State Hwy 53 between Lower Lake and
the City of Clearlake.

Parking: Free parking for those attending the event.

What to Expect: A 3½-mile loop over parts of the Cache Creek Nature Trail, the Marsh Trail and the Ridge Trail, with the first .5 miles being accessible. You will experience Cache Creek and the riparian, grasslands and oak woodlands habitats of the park.

Length of Hike: 3.5 mile, 2 hours

Preparation: Sturdy shoes, a hat and water are recommended.

Special Instructions: Heavy rain will cancel hike.

Ages: Children must be accompanied by an adult.
