From: City of Saint CloudSaint Cloud, FL - Lieutenant David Miller of the St. Cloud Fire Rescue Department was selected recently to join Florida Urban Search and Rescue Task Force 4. Miller, who has nearly a decade of experience in the fire service, will be the first firefighter from the department selected to the task force.
“I am honored to have been chosen to serve on Florida Task Force 4,” said Miller. “This is a great opportunity to use my skills and training to help those in need.”
Florida Task Force 4 is one of 28 FEMA Urban Search and Rescue Task Forces in the United States. It is made up of firefighters, paramedics, engineers, and other emergency personnel who are trained to respond to natural disasters and other emergencies.
Miller’s 501(c)(3) non-profit organization FirePALS, an educational and outreach initiative designed to provide school-aged children with no-cost fire safety reading materials and activities, has demonstrated his compassion for the local St. Cloud community. Now through Florida US&R TF4, he will have an opportunity to share his caring spirit in disaster response across the state.
“David is a highly skilled and experienced firefighter and Paramedic,” said Fire Chief Jason Miller. “He is a valuable asset to our department and will certainly be one wherever he will be deployed under Florida Task Force 4.”
Lt. Miller will begin his assignment with Florida Task Force 4 in July. He will be trained in a variety of disciplines, including search and rescue, structural collapse, and hazardous materials response.
