St. Cloud, FL – The St. Cloud Police Department held a media event today to unveil its new VirTra training simulator. The simulator, which cost approximately $315,000, is used to train officers in a variety of scenarios, including de-escalation, judgmental use of force, and active shooter response.
“We are excited to add this state-of-the-art simulator to our training arsenal,” said Police Chief Douglas Goerke. “This simulator will allow us to provide our officers with realistic and challenging training that will help them make the best decisions in critical situations.”
The VirTra simulator is a 300-degree, 4K-quality immersive experience that allows officers to interact with virtual suspects and respond to real-world threats. The simulator also provides officers with feedback on their performance, helping them to improve their skills and decision-making.
“Constant, and realistic training is essential for law enforcement officers,” said Chief Goerke. “The VirTra simulator is an excellent supplement to live-environment training, and helps our officers provide the best level of service to the City and its residents.”
The St. Cloud Police Department is committed to providing its officers with the best possible training. The VirTra simulator is a valuable addition to our training program and will help us to keep our community safe.
