The amount of State and Federal Aid our town receives is based on population, so it is important to have an accurate count of our residents. The local census is also used to:
-maintain voting lists
-aid in school enrollment projections
-help determine public safety and senior citizens’ needs
-provide certain privileges such as veterans benefits
-serve as proof of residency for state colleges and universities
-and much more.
Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 51 requires that cities and towns conduct an Annual Street List/Census of its residents each year.
