About Us:
Plainville's northern border is at a juncture of Route 495 and it is traversed by Route 1 and 1A. It is easily accessible to commuter rail nexuses and also serviced by GATRA bus service, all of which make it an easy commute to Boston or Providence.
The Town has supported the major rebuilding of Anna Ware Jackson Elementary, a pre-K to Grade 3 school, as well as a new Beatrice Wood School, a Grade 4 to 6 school. Students matriculate to the King Philip Regional System, a newly rebuilt middle school, and a high school that is undergoing total renovation. The community supports a private Montessori School, Hillcrest Academy, and several private pre-schools.
The Community has many recreation areas and is a great supporter of youth athletics via the Plainville Athletic League, Plainville Youth Soccer League, and Town recreation leagues. The Community is currently in the process of building a Field of Dreams complex that will further enhance recreation sports for the Town. There is a public swimming pool as well as a private pool club. The Town also has two golf courses, Heather Hill and Wentworth Hills.
Within the recent past Plainville has built a new library and a new senior center, both of which are activity hubs for the Town. On April 4, 2005, the Town began a year-long celebration of its centennial year. The activities are designed to interest citizens of all ages and interests.
Plainville is a well-kept secret in a part of the country where urban sprawl is endemic. It is a wonderful place in which to grow up and to grow old. Plainville is a special place for all who have lived here.
