Carolina Speedway was built in 1961 after Robinwood Speedway in Gastonia, North Carolina was closed. The Harrison family and legendary race promoter Humpy Wheeler first opened the track. The Speedway is a 4/10 dirt mile oval and host several annual events including the Shrine 100, the King of the Carolinas, the Skylar Trull Memorial, and many other events throughout the season. The Speedway is known as "The Carolina's Action Track" and has become a fan favorite. Currently the Super Late Model track record is held by Chris Ferguson at a time of 14.784 seconds.
