About Us:
Litchfield County, Sharon, CT was incorporated in October of 1739. It held its first town meeting on December 11th of that year and today, in the 21st century, continues a Town Meeting form of government including Selectmen and a Board of Finance. The population of Sharon is 3,052 according to The Connecticut State Register & Manual.
The Green, surrounded with historic district homes, is a beautiful signature of the Town. There are only a handful of communities in the state that have maintained Town Greens. Throughout the year Sharon's Green reflects both nature's beauty and the community's seasonal activities where people gather for special events including the Christmas Tree Lighting and Carol Sing, The Annual Sharon Classic Road Race to benefit the town's day care programs, and the Annual August Craft Sale.
Special to Sharon are its many landmarks and services available to its residents and surrounding communities. Within its 59.6 square miles can be found land used for business, residence, farms, conservation, and recreation. The town is home to The Sharon Audubon Center, The Sharon Historical Society, The Hotchkiss Library of Sharon, Women's Support Services, Sharon Hospital, Sharon Center School (grades k-8) and the Sharon Day Care which in 2005 celebrated its 20th year of operation.
